Taking suo-motu notice, the Federal Ombudsman secretariat on Saturday sought the response from various federal government departments to their internal working and complaint redressal mechanism. Talking to Business Recorder, Supreme Court lawyer Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, a senior advisor and Grievance Commissioner for overseas Pakistanis (GCOP) of the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat, said that during the last two and half years more than 200,000 complaints were decided within 60 days.
"In pursuance of the Federal Ombudsman's directives my office has issued notices to Secretary Railways, Controller General of Accounts, secretary health, secretary communication, chairman CDA, Director General Post, Secretary interior and Director General Passports for implementation hearing in federal ombudsman secretariat on January 5, 2016," Khokhar told Business Recorder.
He said all the heads of organisations have been asked to submit an implementation report in person and give a presentation on the compliance status of Federal Ombudsman's jurisdiction in their respective offices. Khokhar added that Federal Ombudsman's secretariat plans to hear public complaints at district level during the current month to provide expeditious and free justice on public complaints within 60 days.
