A ceremony was held at the office of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Khan Durrani for distribution of monetary awards to the officers of the Counter-Terrorism Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The officers were rewarded in recognition of their efforts to arrest the militant proclaimed offenders on whose arrest the provincial government fixed head-money.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Counter-Terrorism Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Salahuddin Kan briefed the IGP regarding the performance of various officers. During the ceremony, an amount of Rs 12.8 million was distributed amongst the fourteen (14) officers who received the head-money on behalf of their teams for successfully nabbing the twenty (20) most notorious militants. The arrest of these militant POs have led to tracing forty five cases of terrorism.
The prominent militant proclaimed offenders arrested include Gul Rauf alias Gul Raip s/o Sardaraz and Qari Rashid s/o Muhammad Zaman on whom head-money worth Rs 2 million and Rs 1 million respectively had been fixed. Gul Rauf was involved in five different cases of attacks on security forces, police and public places in Bannu region.
The most wanted militants, namely Atiq Ur Rehman s/o Ali Rehman and Hazrat Ali s/o Sahibzada, involved in the brutal attack on police and civilians in Peshawar were nabbed. Another hardened militant, Imdad Ullah alias Farooq Alam s/o Mehardad, involved in nine different cases of attacks on police, security forces and civilians in Mardan region was traced out and arrested.
The other militants arrested include Junaid s/o Ali Ahmed, Abdur Rehman s/o Haji Abbas, Anwar s/o Ghulam Haider, Mustaqim s/o Muslim, Shah Behram s/o Muhammad Hussain, Noor Wali alias Noor Ali s/o Muhammad Ali, Taj Malook s/o Dar Shah alias Ali Hassan, Bakht Jamal s/o Badray Khan and Naseem Shah s/o Sheen Shah on whom head-money worth Rs 0.5 million each had been fixed.
It is pertinent to mention here that these militants have been arrested as a result of joint effort of the CTD, military intelligence agencies and the Intelligence Bureau. The IGP thanked the representatives of various intelligence agencies for their active support and pivotal role in apprehending the most wanted terrorists and thwarting their nefarious designs. Further, an amount of Rs 10 million was paid to two federal intelligence agencies as a reward of head-money.
Addressing the officers, the Inspector General of Police appreciated their working, dedication and courage. He expressed full confidence in the CTD team members and advised them that the accused be challaned after thorough investigation and verification. He further emphasized that the proper follow-up of the cases in the courts should be made so that the arrested miscreants are convicted and handed over their due punishments. The monetary reward distribution will definitely boost the morale of the officers of Counter-Terrorism Department and impart a new impetus to work with more dedication.
