Standing Committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Agriculture has expressed dismay over the establishment of housing societies on agricultural land and convened a joint meeting of the provincial minister for agriculture, chairman PA panel, and representatives of the secretaries Agriculture, Revenue and Law to search out solution to the problem.
The meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Standing Committee on Agriculture Department was held here in Assembly Secretariat with MPA Arbab Jehandad Khan in the chair. Besides, Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Ikramullah Khan Gandapore, parliamentary secretary for Agriculture, Zarin Zia and Secretary Agriculture, the authorities of other departments concerned also attended the meeting. The meeting also discussed in details the approval and installation of tube-wells for farmers.
In the current financial year 80 percent funds for the installation of agricultural tube-wells is borne by the provincial government while the remaining 20% fund is spent by the farmers themselves.
The committee was informed that from next financial year, the provincial government will provide 75 percent and the remaining 25 percent will be borne by the farmers. Earlier, the committee took strong notice of the illegally construction of latrines instead of shops in Sabzi Mandi Peshawar and directed their shifting to alternate place within a period of one-month.
