A four-member committee has been constituted to redress all the reservations and misunderstandings of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The committee will be comprised of Speaker Provincial Assembly Asad Qaiser, Opposition Leader Maulana Lutf ur Rehman, Senior Provincial Minister Inayatullah and Chief secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amjad Ali Khan.
This was decided in a high-level meeting presided over by the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mahtab Ahmad khan regarding the China-Pak Corridor (CPEC) here at Governor House, Peshawar on Wednesday. Besides, Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal Chief Minister Parvez Khattak, Speaker Provincial Assembly Asad Qaiser, Chief Secretary KP Amjad Ali Khan, leaders of all parliamentary parties, senior government officials and others also attended the meeting.
The Governor welcomed the participants of the meeting and said that the purpose of the meeting was to create consensus, harmony and understanding in the major projects of national importance and it was essential to get maximum benefit on such matters at the national level. Addressing the meeting, Federal Minister for Planning and development, Ahsan Iqbal said that reservations if any should be raised in the committee constituted on the CPEC project. He said that the CPEC project will make Pakistan's economy impregnable.
The minister said that the CPEC project is not only beneficial for Pakistan but for the whole region. He assured the participants of the meeting to remove the reservations of the provincial leadership adding that we cannot think of discrimination against any province. He said that the federal government firmly believes that CPEC has given Pakistan historic opportunity to develop backward areas equally.
He said that all reservations of the KP Government on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will be addressed on priority. He briefed the participant of the meeting in detail regarding the 13 demands mentioned in KP Government's letter. The committee will discuss the matter with the Federal Government regarding the reservations of the provincial government on CPEC.
