Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad has said that the work on 6th Secondary Transmission Grid (STG) plan would be completed by June this year. Responding to a calling Attention Notice moved by Sher Akbar Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in the National Assembly on Thursday regarding non-approval of the PC-I of 7th Secondary Transmission Grid (STG) plan of Peshawar Electric Supply Company, the Minister said that the government is spending Rs 7 billion to improve transmission of electric supply.
He said the PC-I of 7th Secondary Transmission Gird (STG) plan of Peshawar Electric Supply Company will be approved this year and work on it will be started after the completion of the 6th plan. Responding to a supplementary question of the member, the Minister said that Nandipur Power Project is generating 479 MW of electricity daily.
Responding to another Calling Attention Notice moved by Najaf Abbas Sial regarding non-completion of work on Fish Harbour at Gaddani Lasbela, the minister said that a meeting of the board would be held on January 28, 2016 to settle this issue. He said that according to the agreement, there is 25 percent share of the project and 75 percent of private firm. He said that the land belonged to the federal government but Balochistan government made an agreement with a company regarding the land without consulting the federal government. He said that the federal government wants its auction of the land.
He said that that delay in the project was caused due to land dispute. He said a meeting has been convened on January 28th to resolve the issue. Earlier, the National Assembly approved a 19-member Standing Committee on Human Rights. The motion to this effect was moved by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad.
The House resumed discussion on President's address to the joint sitting of the Parliament. Taking part in the discussion, Qaisar Ahmad Shaikh appreciated the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for successful efforts to steer the country out of difficulties. He said budget deficit, inflation rate and interest rate have declined to a sufficient extent which is a welcome sign. He suggested reforms in bureaucracy for rapid development.
