A short rainy spell in the wee hours Thursday whipped the city, reducing the temperature a bit and turning the atmosphere pleasant. However, the Met Office said the rain was too scant to record and called the rainfall 'traces'. The short spell helped remove pollution a little from the horizon and improve atmospheric conditions.
"A shallow westerly wave is affecting northern parts of the country and is likely to persist during next 24 hours," the office said, adding that weather in the country is likely to remain cold and dry. However, light rain with light snowfall over the hills is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara and Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad, upper FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Foggy condition is likely to prevail over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning hours, it said.
Temperature in Parachinar was minus 8 degrees Celsius, Kalam, Skardu and Gupis 6 each, Astore 5, Kalat, Hunza and Dir 3 each, Malamjabba and Gilgit and Chitral 1 each. Zhob received 2 mm of rain and Parachinar and Barkhan 1 each. In the next 48 hours, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. Foggy condition is likely to prevail over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning hours, it said.
