A briefing session aimed at to review the draft of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mineral Act, 2015 held at the office of Minerals Development Department on Friday. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Irrigation and Social Welfare, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao and Provincial Minister for Minerals Development Department, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli jointly chaired the meeting.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister Abdul Karim Khan, Arshad Umerzai, representative of Law Department, Shagufta and other concerned authorities also participated in the meeting. On this occasion, Director Planning of Mineral Development, Syed Bilal Khisro briefed the forum about the draft and highlighted its important provisions for further discussion in order to make it the most coherent. The participants of meeting comprehensively reviewed the draft along with discussing important provisions relating to authorities and powers mandated in the act.
The Provincial Ministers Sikandar Sherpao and Anisa Zeb, said the act must be simple, clear, coherent and in accordance with the needs of modern era. Every section and provision particularly power, authorities and structure should also be defined properly. Sikandar Sherpao urged that the provincial rights must be protected on priority basis, however, he said national and international investors should also be facilitated in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development.
Anisa Zeb said that they were going to enact the first ever mineral act of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, so it was imperative to make it the most coherent and practicable. She directed the authorities concerned to utilise all available resources in this regard.
