Dr Asim Hussain Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman on Friday said that he does not know his crime till today. He denied charges once again while casually talking to the media before court hearing in Karachi's anti terrorism court (ATC). The ATC adjourned hearing of Dr Asim Hussain's terror facilitation case until January 19 after re-issuing non-bailable arrest warrants for fugitives.
The court expressed resentment for not arresting the nominated persons. The judge stated that the accused are appearing on TV screens and talking to media. An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Waseem Akhtar, Saleem Shehzad, Anees Qaimkhani and Qadir Patel while hearing a case against Dr Asim Hussain the former petroleum minister and close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari.
Hussain was presented before an ATC where the investigation submitted its report pertaining to arrests of fugitives in the case. The report states that while Usman Moazzam has been apprehended efforts are being made to nab four others. Investigation officer presented a list of witnesses in the case. Total number of witnesses, according to the list is 17. The court included name of judicial magistrate in the witnesses list after objection from Rangers official.
Dr Asim complained about pain in his gums and requested the court to let him visit a hospital. The court ordered authorities concerned to get the accused examined by none other than a doctor he went to the last time. He was given in National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) custody for another 14 days on January 5 after his earlier remand expired.
