The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday granted protective bails to Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) leaders Waseem AKhter and Haider Abbas Rizvi in different cases till January 22, 2016. The SHC bench headed by Justice Sadiq Hussain Bhatti was hearing the bail pleas filed by the MQM leaders, who moved the court to avoid arrest in cases registered against them for listening hate speeches by party leader Altaf Hussain.
Akher, who also served as advisor to Sindh CM on Home, was awarded bail in 25 cases which includes 24 cases for listening and arranging hate speeches of his leader against the national security agencies and one case related to terrorists' treatment on his directions.
Earlier, the applicants submitted that false cases were instituted against them on political grounds. They want to appear before the trial courts but there are apprehensions that they will be arrested with malafide intentions, they submitted. After hearing the arguments, the court grant them bail against surety bonds of Rs 10,000 for each case for 15 days and directed them to appear before the trial courts.
