Pakistan People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto visited the family of the slain Punjab governor, Salmaan Taseer, on Saturday to convey party Co-Chairman Asif Zardari's message to the latter's son, Shehryar Taseer. Bakhtawar Bhutto also accompanied her brother, Bilawal Bhutto, during the visit. Tight security was adopted ahead of the visit and all adjacent roads to the slain governor's house were blocked. Party sources believe the visit could propel the slain governor's son to get a top party post.
They also said it was mostly likely that Bilawal would urge the Taseer family to be active to strengthen the party and seek the support of influential families, especially in the Punjab. The sources said Bilawal would be taking part in a collective wedding ceremony to be organised by the Ameer Begum Welfare Trust. He is expected to address the Lahore High Court (LHCB) Bar on January 11 and then chair a session of party parliamentarians. On January 12, he will also chair organisational sessions of the Central and Southern Punjab.
