Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PMLQ) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said on Sunday that it was not possible that the route of the CPEC project could be changed according to desires of all politicians.
"China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project should not pass through in front of our residences, he said in a statement in reaction to the efforts being made to make the CPEC route controversial.
He urged the politicians not to play with the integrity and solidarity of the country on the project of CPEC.
"This project is a great gesture from our time-tested friend China particularly in the prevailing circumstances when Pakistan is fighting internally and externally against terrorism, he said.
Chaudhry Shujaat said that CPEC was not welcomed by Western forces particularly the neighbouring India.
"A lot has already been written against it in the Washington Post and New York Times. Undoubtedly CPEC is a big game changer but unfortunately we are handling it immaturely on the political front," he lamented.
PMLQ President said that lack of maturity on this issue could lead to a great disaster. He warned that if the project was cancelled or delayed, Pakistan would have to suffer the biggest shock of the decade.
"Entire country has been suffering in the name of consensus. No one in the world can achieve 100% consensus on every issue," he said adding that mature countries don't create controversies on development which is in the interest of the country,"
Chaudhry Shujat regretfully pointed out that in our country national level thinking was at the lowest ebb and the entire country was divided in four parts particularly after 2013 elections and 18th amendment. He said such negative developments weakened the federation.
