The unveiling ceremony of the ICC World Twenty20 trophy reached Peshawar home of domestic T20 champions for a two-day tour here Monday. The trophy was unveiled by Pakistan's One Day International captain Azhar Ali in a ceremony held at Army Public School Peshawar. Richard Dimond, an ICC representative, PCB officials, students of Army Public School and teaching staff of APS were also present.
To pay tribute to the martyred of Army Public School, besides unveiling of the ICC World Twenty20 Trophy, the trophy also started its journey from APS and the next stop will be at Lahore on January 12, 2016. The trophy will arrive at Gymkhana Cricket Ground Lahore at 11.00 am and will stay at Gymkhana for a photo opportunity. After that the trophy will then move to Kinnaird College. The trophy will next move to GSL. The trophy will depart for Bangladesh on January 13, 2016.
Talking to media Azhar Ali expressed the hope that Pakistan team would win the trophy and if the player succeeded in winning the trophy they would name after the Twenty20 trophy to the martyrs of APS. "We are here only to express solidarity with families of the martyrs of APS and the sacrifices rendered by the children of APS would be remembered for ever," Azhar Ali concluded.
