Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif Tuesday called on President of Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Khawaja Muhammad Asif is on a two-day visit leading Pakistani delegation to Joint Working Group on Energy and Infrastructure, said a press release received here. During the meeting with President of Tajikistan a wide range of current issues and prospects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries came under discussion.
The Tajik President said that both Pakistan and Tajikistan have optimistic look to the future of the friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation that already exist between the two countries. He stressed the need to put all efforts to further deepen these relations. Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the recent visit of the Tajik President to Pakistan was very warm, cordial and substantial during which a wide range of matters relating to bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries were constructively discussed.
It was noted that beginning of the implementation of projects of regional importance, the construction of the CASA-1000 power transmission line, has a decisive role and Tajikistan is fully aware for further development of close cooperation and attraction of Pakistan investment in the field of energy and infrastructure. The Minister for Water and Power also held meeting with Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Aslov. During the meeting matters relating bilateral issues between Pakistan and Tajikistan came under discussion. Khawaja Muhammad Asif led the Pakistan side in the Tajikistan-Pakistan Joint Working Group on Energy and Infrastructure.
The JWG took into account the progress made by both sides on a number of points that were agreed upon and discussed in detail the various other areas of cooperation that can be explored in the field of energy and infrastructure. The meeting expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by both sides towards deepening cooperation between the two counties in the energy sector. The meeting noted with satisfaction the progress on CASA-1000 project. The Pakistan delegation will be leaving for Kyrgyzstan tomorrow.
