Orange Line Metro Train case: LHC issues notices to Punjab government, others
The Lahore High Court on Thursday issued notices to Punjab government and others for January 18 in an application seeking stay against construction of Orange Line Metro Train near Shalimar Garden, Chauburji and other monuments. A bar member Azhar Siddique filed the application on behalf of civil society in pending main case against the train project.
The lawyer argued that land acquisition process for the project had not been finalised yet but the authorities raised more than 30 percent construction work and such construction was great threat to the cultural heritage and violation of antiquity law and World Heritage Convention.
