International Rescue Committee (IRC) Pakistan organised a certificate distribution ceremony and awarded 22 individuals who have successfully completed two months' technical training course in the trade of 'Auto mechanic'. The training has been provided under a project of skills development in Peshawar, implemented by Skill Development Council (SDC) Peshawar with the cooperation of International Rescue Committee (IRC), Pakistan.
Under the project, 220 young men and women trainees will be provided technical and vocational trainings in the trades of plumbing, electrician, computer hardware, tailoring, Ada work, embroidery, auto mechanic and heavy machinery operators. Out of the 220 target beneficiaries of this project, 75 would be comprised female trainees. The project is targeted at enabling livelihood opportunities for the youth belonging to Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) from Khyber agency and Fata.
The winners were awarded certificates, tool kits and stipend amounts at a ceremony here. The IRC and SDC are also working to link this trained technical human resource with employers in the formal and non-formal services sector. A special training on enterprise development will also be imparted to the trainees successfully completing the training programme, in order to enable them to start their own businesses. Representatives from IRC and SDC were present at the ceremony to encourage this passing out group.
