The Supreme Court on Friday sought report from Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR) pertaining to pension privileges of a retired government servant. A three-member bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan resumed the hearing of a pension matter of a retired government servant of Accounts Department, Abdul Mateen.
Mateen apprised the bench that he served in BPS-17 for six months whereas after revising the scales he was given BPS-16 saying that the department failed to pay increase of grade 17 for six months.
Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan remarked as to whether the Service Act provide protection to the retired public servants. Seeking report form the AGPR in the matter the bench adjourned further hearing of the case for 15 days.
Meanwhile, disposing of an election matter, the bench asked the appellant to file a fresh application before Election Tribunal Multan for remedy.
Sardar Azhar Khan Gopang's nomination papers for local body polls from Mihankot Municipal Corporation were rejected by the Election Tribunal Multan. Lahore High Court Multan Bench upheld the Tribunal verdict to which Gopang filed appeal against the high court decision before Supreme Court.
Turning down the High Court verdict in the matter the bench asked Gopang to file a fresh application before the concerned Tribunal and disposed of the case.
