Jamaat-e-Islami's chief Senator Siraj-ul-Haq vowed on Sunday his party would launch war against corruption from March this year. "Our campaign will help stop corruption and recovery of the looted public money from the corrupt," he said at the concluding ceremony of Peshawar Youth Festival held under the aegis of JI Peshawar chapter in Tehmas Khan Football Stadium.
JI Chief said that they had already garnered details of the corrupt persons. He claimed that Jamaat would recover plundered public money from all those who siphoned off money bankrupting Pakistan International Air Line (PIA), Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) and Pakistan Railways.
"We shall be able to bring back the huge amount of US $293 billion siphoned off to the foreign banks," he said.
Siraj ul Haq said that if voted to power, the JI would provide free education at all level, grant unemployment allowance for post-graduates and old-age allowance for those with age over 70 years.
"We fully support the construction of western route of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other infrastructure such as gas and LNG pipelines, fibre optic cables and industrial zones along it," he said.
JI Chief also called for the construction of Peshawar-Chitral road under the CPEC project to link the country with Central Asian Republics (CARs), Afghanistan and China through the shortest trade route.
He was critical of the splurging of money by affluent people in the elections. He demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to adopt measures for accountability of such persons. Otherwise, he warned of strong protest against the ECP.
