Sports Reporter Ijaz Ahmad (APP) and Azmat Ullah (Sports Plus) were Tuesday elected as President and Secretary General of the Sports Writers Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa respectively in an election meeting held here at media center Qayyum Sports Complex. The announcement in this connection was made by Election Commissioner Ali Hazrat Bacha (Daily Dawn) with election committee members comprising Yousaf Ali (The News), Said Alam Khan (The Nation).
Former World Champion Qamar Zaman, Deputy Secretary Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs Adil Safi, Director General Sports Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, Director Sports Tariq Mehmood, President Peshawar Press Club Bukhar Shah Bach (The News), President Khyber Union of Journalist (KhUJ) Nisar Mehmood, former President Nadir Khawjah, Kashif Uddin Sayed, former Pakistan hockey team coach Abdur Rauf Khan, members of SWA KP were also present.
The newly elected Executive Committee comprising Kashif Uddin (Neo TV), Nadir Khawjah (Khyber Stars), Shazia Nisar (ARY TV), Sheba Haider (Geo TV), Muhammad Wasif (Jahan-e-Pakistan Daily), Rehmat Ullah (Pakistan Observer), Ghani Ur Rehman (Online Pakistan Sports), Muhammad Asif (KhyberStars Spors Mag), Fida Adeel (92New), Said Alam (The Nation), Yousaf Ali (The News) and Ali Hazrat Bacha (Daily Dawn) was also elected.
Speaking on this occasion, newly elected President Ijaz Ahmad said that all out efforts would be taken for the promotion of sports activities. He assured the government of KP that all positive and healthy sports activities would be highlighted with zeal and spirit. He said as journalists it would their utmost obligation to create coherence in the rank of players besides highlighted the problem being faced by them. He said KP is full of talent and that talent need quick attention on the part of the government so to safeguard them of being wasted. Earlier, the meeting also offered Fateh for the departed soul of President Tribal Union of Journalist (TUJ) Mehboob Khan and other loss their precious life in a blast in Karkhano Market.
