Pakistan Navy has taken an initiative for the revival of the national game in collaboration with Pakistan Hockey Federation and has organised "1st Chief of the Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament 2016". Pakistan Navy has always strived for the promotion of sports in the country. Keeping in view the glorious past of Pakistan Hockey, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah stands committed to contribute towards bringing back our lost glory in the field of hockey.
The event is first of its kind which would continue in the coming years and is expected to play its part in providing fuel for a kick-start revival process First Chief of the Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament is scheduled from 19 to 28 January 2016, at hockey club of Pakistan Stadium Karachi.
A total of 08 top national teams namely Pakistan Navy, Army, Air force, Pakistan Police, National Bank of Pakistan, Sui Southern Gas Limited, Pakistan customs and PIA are competing in the tournament. A total of 16 matches will be played in the tournament including 12 league matches, 2 semi-finals, 3rd position match and a final. League matches of the tournament will be conducted in two pools where each team will play 3 matches.
The opening ceremony of the championship will be held on 21st January 2016 and Closing ceremony and final match of the tournament will be conducted on 28th January 2016 followed by prize distribution. The winning team of the tournament will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 1.1 million while Rs 0.8 and 0.6million is the prize money for those attaining second and third position respectively.
The top three teams would receive gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. Apart from collective prizes, individual players displaying exceptional performance will also be awarded with cash prizes. A committee comprising Pakistan Hockey Federation and Pakistan Navy officials headed by tournament director will choose the man of the tournament, best goal keeper and best scorer of the event based on individual performance of the players.
