Representatives belonging to Pakistan People's Party, KE Consumers Forum and Pasban have bitterly criticised National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for allowing K-Electric to increase its tariff to 57.6 61paisa per unit for November 2015 under fuel adjustment mechanism. Voicing his concern, Jawaid Nagori, a member of Sindh Assembly, belonging to PPP, termed the increase in power tariff `unjust' and `uncalled for'.
He demanded of the federal government to initiate an inquiry against Nepra chairman's `uncalled for' action of 'favouring' the K-Electric. He alleged the federal government is leaving no opportunity to financially burden people of Sindh and Karachi. The PPP MPA also appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of Nepra's decision of allowing KE to charge enhanced power from its consumers for November 2015.
Mazhar Chaudhary of KE Consumers Forum and Pasban-Pakistan's Abu-Bakar Osman also criticised the KE for getting its power tariff increased from Nepra on the pretext of fuel adjustment mechanism. They said that it was beyond one's comprehension that at a time when oil prices in the internal market had been reduced considerably, the KE is bent upon increasing power tariff, instead of providing relief to its consumers.
