Partly Facetious: Why didn't Dar accompany the PM?
"I couldn't believe the footage!"
"What footage?"
"Why didn't Mian sahib decide to take Ishaq Dar as a member of the delegation of the civilian-military leadership's efforts to de-escalate tensions between the Saudis and the Iranians?"
"He is the chair of over 35 committees, maybe one committee that he chairs deals with the subject matter."
"Which committee is that? The one dealing with Data sahib's mausoleum in Lahore? Or Bari Imam in Islamabad?"
"Don't be facetious."
"So tell me?"
"I don't know the names of all the committees and for all we know there could be a committee dealing with peace initiatives in the event of a Saudi-Iranian row."
"You are being facetious."
"Well, look at it this way..."
"Dar is the samdhi and if he wants to go then he goes?"
"No, I was going to say that since Mian sahib flew straight from Tehran to attend the World Economic Forum in Switzerland maybe to save money on a ticket for Dar he just took him along?"
"You know this all stems from the fact that Dar sahib cannot resist the camera. I have repeatedly advised Dar sahib not to stand next to Mian sahib when the cameras are rolling...."
"Ha ha ha."
"What's so funny?"
"Two things. First Dar sahib doesn't listen to anyone but the Sharif family - and that too only the elder branch or so I hear and second Dar sahib is the nawalas Rehman Malik - both men love the camera and both are peace-makers with leadership of other parties that can be rather challenging and..."
"Internal reconciliation is not the same as being a peace-maker in the international arena."
"Maybe Mian sahib is training him..."
"Now that is interesting."
