Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) visited NAB Rawalpindi Regional Bureau for annual inspection. NAB Chairman's Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) was deputed to conduct annual inspection of NAB Rawalpindi Regional Bureau for the year 2015. The inspection was carried out from January 18 to January 20, 2015 in order to review and evaluate the performance of NAB Rawalpindi Bureau on the basis of a quantified grading system on the basis of the newly introduced quantified grading system.
Senior member, Chairman's Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) along with his team conducted the said inspection for the year of 2015. He gave a detailed briefing to Chairman NAB about the inspection done and highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of the NAB Rawalpindi Regional Bureau.
He informed that on the directions of the Chairman NAB, a quantified grading system has been devised. Under this grading system, the performance of all NAB's Regional Bureaus is being evaluated during January and February 2016 at uniform criteria. 80 percent marks will be considered "Outstanding/Excellent", between 60 percent to 79 percent will be considered as "Very Good", between 40% to 49% will be considered as "Good", while marks less than 40 percent will be considered as "Below Average".
The NAB chairman said NAB is committed to eradicate corruption across the board by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy throughout the country. Corruption is the mother of all evils. Corruption undermines development and rule of law. Corruption not only causes delays in the early completion of development projects but also causes huge losses to national exchequer. Considering these facts National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was established in 1999 as Pakistan's apex anti-corruption organisation which is assigned with the responsibility of elimination of corruption through a holistic approach of awareness, prevention and enforcement and to recover looted money.
Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB said that NAB Rawalpindi is flagship regional bureaus of NAB. It played prominent role in contributing towards the overall performance of NAB, he said. In 2015, NAB Rawalpindi received 7002 complaints which were in process according to the law. NAB Rawalpindi, out of 333 complaints verifications (CVs), completed 288 complaint verifications. NAB Rawalpindi out of 229 inquiries, completed 128 whereas out of 96 investigations 52 investigations were completed on merit. During 2015, NAB Rawalpindi has arrested 69 corrupts and filed 48 corruption references during 2015. The conviction rate was 78 percent. During 2015, NAB Rawalpindi has recovered Rs 1441.755 million during 2015.
Chairman Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) in view of the assessed annual performance based on evaluation under quantified grading system prepared by the Chairman Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) graded NAB Rawalpindi's performance as very good with 65 percent Operational Efficiency Index (OEI).

He appreciated the performance of NAB Rawalpindi under the supervision of DG NAB Rawalpindi. He directed all officers/officials of NAB Rawalpindi to work hard to further improve your performance.
He further directed all ranks of officers/officials of NAB Rawalpindi to work more vigilantly and diligently in order to curb corruption and corrupt practices from the country. He said that CI&MT has done good work. He said that there is always room for improvements; however good work always gets appreciated and shows commitment of the NAB Bureau.-PR
