The use of the world's priciest party drug, cocaine is on the rise in the Pakistani society, Acting Director General Anti-Narcotics Force Brigadier Zahid Abdullah said on Friday. He was presiding over the ANF Force Commanders Conference at ANF Headquarters that was attended by Commanders of all Regional Directorates and Senior Staff Officers.
At the outset the ANF chief highlighted that the new trend of cocaine abuse was on the rise in Pakistani society that was used by the rich segment of the society. ANF spokesman Colonel Hanif said ANF registered 1,216 cases, arrested 1,460 persons, recovered 50148.250 kg opium, 12266.084 kg heroin, 133645.110 kg hashish, 543 kg morphine, 2877.340 kg amphetamine, 35.732 kg cocaine, 38.903 kg methamphetamine, 81 kg psychotropic tablets and 5,348 litre precursor chemical.
Appreciation was followed by a critical analysis of Year 2015 and futuristic goals of year 2016 were set-forth. During the conference, aspects of Enforcement, Intelligence, Assets Investigation, Prosecution, Financial cum Administrative matters and infrastructure development were deliberated upon. Special attention was paid on taking effective steps against drug use in educational institutions.
