The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has congratulated Iftikhar Ali Malik for his fifth time re-election as Vice President SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry and hoped that he would continue to use his best abilities for the promotion of trade & Industry in the country.
The LCCI office bearers; President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Senior Vice President Almas Hyder and Vice President Nasir Saeed in their felicitation message said that re-election of Iftikhar Ali Malik for the fifth consecutive term is a proof of his untiring efforts for the business and industry.
They said that measures taken by him as Vice President SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the promotion of regional trade speaks volume of his business acumen. They said that efforts of Iftikhar Ali Malik would go a long way in bringing the SAARC countries closer and enhancing trade among all the member states. The regional economic integration cannot be achieved without comprehensively addressing the politically instigated issues and infrastructural problems, both at country and regional level.
They said that the member states of SAARC are still far from their goal of regional economic integration. It is important to build a sound foundation without which the goal of South Asian Economic Union would only remain a dream. "Efforts should also be made to accelerate tariff liberalisation program. It is imperative to develop and forge regional cooperation in different areas, though implementation would primarily require strong will and commitment shown by all the heads of states" the office-bearers added.
