Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has said that the terrorism was not only the problem of the province rather it is an international issue and efforts were continued at global level for its elimination. He said that for ensuring internal security of the institutions and active role of the masses was essential to get rid of this menace.
This he said while talking to local people on Friday afternoon at the residence of martyred Professor Hamid Hussain of Bacha Khan University at Swabi. Relatives of the late Professor, notables of the area and local people were present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister expressed his deep sense of sorrow and grief over the irreparable loss of the late martyred professor Hamid Hussain. He also handed over a cheque Rs 15.4 million to the father of the late Professor Hamid Hussain on this occasion.
Talking to the people the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa highlighted initiatives taken by the provincial government to check terrorism. He pinpointed that a government was facing multiple challenges due to terrorism. He said that terrorism has become a cancer and none was escape from it.
He elaborated that our national army and security forces were targets of the terrorism. While referring to the steps taken by the provincial government to combat terrorism he said that for the first time in the history of the province "Counter Terrorism department" was established by the government to bring co-ordination among the intelligence institutions.
The Chief Minister said that directives have already been issued to the institutions to ensure their internal security. "Now it is the responsibility of the concern quarters to ensure implementation of the directives issued by the government", he asserted.
He further said that all District Police Officers had been directed to ensure internal security of the educational institutions and have a vigilant eye over these institutions so that terrorist could not sabotage peace of the society. The Chief Minister later on visited the residence of late Akhtar Munir, Superintendent Jail. He condoled the death of the deceased with the bereaved family and prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and patience to his family to bear the irreparable loss.
