Two personnel of Elite Police force were gunned down by unknown armed persons in jurisdiction of Yakatoot Police Station, here on Friday morning. Police sources said two personnel of elite police identified as Shah Zeb and Fahan were on way for duty when they came under firing of unknown motorbike riders in Rasheed Garhi area.
After the attack large number of locals and police personnel rushed the site. Both the personnel were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar. However, they succumbed to their injuries before shifting to hospital. Due to heavy fog and masked faces the attackers made their escape from the scene successfully. Police launched search operation in the area and arrested several suspected persons.
In last couple of days, situation badly deteriorated in Peshawar and in the surrounding areas as it was the third incident of terrorism of its kind occurred since attack on Karkhano Check Post which claimed lives of 10 people. Meanwhile, Counter Terrorism Police arrested a terrorist in district Bannu, who was involved in the attack on police mobile in Badhabera area. The arrested person was identified as Sadaqatullah, son of Hidayatullah resident of Suleman Khail Badhabera, Peshawar. The arrest was made in district Bannu where accused person was shifted to an unknown location for further interrogation.
