The spokesman of Punjab government has clarified that 'Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project' has no link with China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the remarks attributed to Khawaja Haris during the hearing of the case have no relevance with the said lawyer.
The spokesman further said that lawyer representing the government had stated that just as CPEC project was being implemented under inter-governmental framework between Pakistan and China; similarly, a separate agreement had been made between the two countries for 'Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project.' He said those remarks did not mean that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project was the part of CPEC.
The spokesman further clarified that the agreement of provision of loan for 'Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project' had been made due to tireless personal efforts of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and Chinese government was providing soft term loan for the project through Exam Bank of China which would be repaid by Punjab government within its own resources.
