The price of essential kitchen items witnessed a reduction during last week as compared to preceding week, revealed a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Saturday. The survey observed that the prices of almost all range of vegetables reduced during last week, while prices of non-perishable items including pulses, milk, cooking oil/ghee, wheat flour, tea, rice, sugar and spices remained stable. However, the prices of the fruits registered a mixed trend.
In the wholesale markets, live chicken price witnessed a reduction of Rs 800 per 40 kg from Rs 5,400 per 40 kg to Rs 4,600 per 40 kg, while in retail markets, live chicken is available at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 150 per kg and chicken meat is available at Rs 270 per kg against Rs 280 per kg during preceding week.
One dozen eggs are available at Rs 100 against Rs 105 per dozen, while in wholesale market, five dozen box of eggs is available at Rs 400 against Rs 420. Prices of entire range of non-perishable kitchen items including gram pulse Mota Channa, Kabli Chana, Red Lobia, Dal Masoor, spices, wheat-flour and ghee/cooking oil as well as prices of seasonal vegetables remained stable in the markets.
Moreover, black Masoor is available at Rs 140 per kg, red Masoor at Rs 150 per kg, gram pulse at Rs 140 per kg, Mash pulse at Rs 250 per kg, Mong at Rs 160 per kg and Red Lobia is available at Rs 140 per kg. However, no change was observed in the prices of beef and mutton as boneless beef is available at Rs 450 per kg and mixed beef at Rs 380 per kg whereas mutton is available at Rs 700 per kg. Sugar is being sold at Rs 60 per kg.
According to survey, onion in the wholesale market reduced by Rs 500 per 85 kg bag from Rs 3,000 per bag to Rs 2,500, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 35-40 per kg against Rs 40-45 per kg. The prices of tomatoes also witnessed a further reduction of Rs 20 per 5 kg in wholesale market from Rs 170 per 5 kg to Rs 150 per 5 kg, which in retail market is available at Rs 40 per kg. Potatoes with Rs 10 per 5 kg reduction in wholesale market are available at Rs 80 per 5 kg against Rs 90 per 5 kg in the preceding week, which in retail market are available at Rs 20 per kg. Ginger is available at Rs 160 per kg, while garlic is being sold at Rs 220 per kg.
Peas in wholesale market are available at Rs 120 per 5 kg, which in retail market are being sold at Rs 30-35 per kg and spinach price in wholesale market registered reduction of Rs 50 per 5 kg. Green chilli price witnessed a reduction of Rs 150 per kg in wholesale market from Rs 250 per kg to Rs 100 kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 150 per kg, carrot is available at Rs 80 per 5 kg in wholesale market, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 20 per kg.
Brinjal and radish are being sold at Rs 70 per 5 kg in wholesale market, which in the retail market, are available at Rs 20 per kg. Cabbage and cauliflower prices reduced by Rs 30 per 5 kg in the wholesale market from Rs 120 per 5 kg to Rs 80 per 5 kg, which in the retail market is available at Rs 20-25 per kg.
Capsicum price also witnessed a reduction of Rs 50 per 5 kg in the wholesale market from Rs 200 per 5 kg to Rs 150 per 5 kg whereas it is available at Rs 50-60 per kg in the retail market. Kareela price went up by Rs 100 per 5 kg from Rs 250 per 5 kg to Rs 350 per 5 kg in the wholesale market while in the retail market it is being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 60 per kg. Okra price further went down by Rs 70 per kg from Rs 200 per kg to Rs 130 per kg. Tori is available at Rs 65 per kg, Arvi at Rs 80 per kg and Kaddu is available with an increase of Rs 10 per kg from Rs 50 per kg to Rs 60 per kg.
