Garmin will soon be releasing a head-up cycling display that can be attached to riders' glasses. The Varia Vision weighs just 28 grams and enhances cyclists' road awareness by displaying cycling information in their line of sight.
Instead of looking down at a display or cycling computer for information, the cyclist has a straight-ahead view of performance data for workouts, directions with detailed navigation prompts and rear-view radar to know when vehicles are approaching from behind.
Riders also receive vibration alerts for workout information or when a call or text is in the incoming. Varia Vision even features a built-in ambient light sensor to adjust the brightness of the display in twilight.
It also has a glove-friendly touch panel and is weather resistant. The battery lasts eight hours, Garmin says. Varia Vision is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2016 and will cost 400 euros (about 435 dollars).
