Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat were mostly flat in the southern US Plains on Friday, with limited changes in parts of Texas, grain merchandisers said. The track basis at the US Gulf firmed by 2 cents, to 112 cents over K.C. March hard red winter wheat futures. Basis bids elsewhere were unchanged.
A dealer in Enid, Oklahoma, said farmers were calling to ask about wheat prices, but booked limited sales. USDA reported export sales of US wheat in the week ended January 14 at 362,000 tonnes, in line with trade expectations for 200,000 to 400,000 tonnes.
Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City were unchanged on Thursday.
Grain elevators in southern Indiana and Ohio reported a slower pace of grain deliveries on Friday morning as snow-covered roads made trucking more treacherous. Some elevators were shortening grain dump hours on Friday as well, an Indiana grain merchant said.
As of 10:30 am CST (1630 GMT), K.C. hard red winter wheat futures for March delivery were last up 1/2 cent at $4.72 a bushel.
