We extend warm greeting to the Federal Board of Revenue and the fraternity of Pakistan Customs fraternity on international Customs Day on January 26, 2016.
International trade practices and patterns have undergone enormous changes in the globalise economy. This change demands significant innovation and improvement in customs procedures and operations.
Federal Board of Revenue and Pakistan customs has undergone major change in the recent past to meet the challenges of the changed trade environment. A number of initiatives have been undertaken for automation of Customs procedures and facilitation of trade along with measures to secure international trade
However, the need for continuous research and knowledge based reforms cannot be focused that reflected on the performance of the Customs Department. The Trade, which is identified as the major catalyst for economic growth, cannot meet global standards without adoption of innovative and efficient techniques and Cooperation among different stakeholders.
And, the economic integration with global economy can only be made, if the Customs and other relevant authorities get success in fulfilling the expectations of the stakeholders for a fair, speedy transparent administration by striking the right balance between trade facilitation and enforcement of law.
We hope that FBR and Pakistan Customs will not only focus on continuous research and knowledge based reforms for trade facilitation but also put it into practice to make its operations more efficient, transparent and effective.
