The Karachi Port handled 263,783 tonnes of cargo comprising 205,628 tonnes of import cargo and 58,155 tonnes of export cargo including 8,104 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 205,628 tonnes comprised of 95,303 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,967 tonnes of general cargo; 49,912 tonnes of bulk cargo: 37,200 tonnes of coal; 2,361 tonnes of steel scrap; 6,121 tonnes of canola; 4,230 tonnes of scrap broken part and 52,446 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 58,155 tonnes comprised of 52,229 tonnes of containerised cargo and 61 tonnes of general cargo; 1,985 tonnes of cement and 3,880 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 8,104 containers comprising of 4,019 containers import and 4,085 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,807 of 20's and 985 of 40's loaded while 186 of 20's and 28 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,011 of 20's and 544 of 40's loaded containers while 720 of 20's and 633 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Hyundai Confidence, Tian Li He, Fowairet, Cartagena, Silver Caitriona and Saehan Estrella carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were ten vessels viz. UAFL Zanzibar, X-Press Euphrates, Hanjin Indigo, APL Agate, Overseas Milos, Silver Caitriona, Maritina, Hankuk Chemi, Great Ocean and Amoy Fortune carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely Hanjin Indigo, Kota Kasturi, Overseas Milos, Hankuk Chemi, Agros and IVS Augusta carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Monday while another ship namely UAFL Zanzibar carrying containers is expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were four vessels viz. Cape Madrid, Annoula-K, Calmy Coral and Pacific Pioneer carrying containers, bunker and steel respectively due to arrive on Monday while four vessels viz. Hammonia Toscana, Ever Divine, MT Karachi and Navios Strength carrying containers and oil tankers respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 37,380 tonnes includes 4,284 tonnes of chemical; 7,329 tonnes of canola seed and 25,767 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,736 tonnes includes 6,942 tonnes of crude oil and 31,794 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There were two ships namely CV Cap Madrid and MT Alpine Light carrying containers and crude oil sailed out to sea on Monday.
A total number of six vessels viz. CV Cap Madrid, CV MSC Albany, Rising, Golde Heiwa, Gashem Antartic and MT Alpine Light currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, canola seed, chemical and crude oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as three ships carrying edible oil, general cargo and furnace oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday.
There were two vessels carrying containers and chemical took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were three ships namely MV Bao Heng, MT Boronla and MT Box carrying general cargo, furnace oil and edible oil respectively due to arrive on Monday.
