Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said that our youth is our future and we will not allow anyone to play with their lives and we will not allow the terrorists to continue their cowardly acts. He expressed these views while presiding over the meeting of all the vice-chancellors of Public Sector Universities of the province and FATA held on Tuesday at Governor House, Peshawar.
The meeting reviewed the aftermath situation of terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University and overall security situation of the public sector universities in the province. It was also decided in the meeting that the security arrangements of all the universities of the province to be reviewed and in case of any negligence strict action will be taken against those universities.
During the meeting, the Vice chancellors highlighted security issues in universities. Governor assured them that their issues would be resolved on priority and directed the relevant officials to contact with the Higher Education commission and provincial government for the allocation of the additional fund to the universities for their security.
The Governor directed the relevant officials that the Police deployed at the universities should ensure their attendance and foolproof security of the varsities. He also directed the relevant officers to contact with the provincial government for the training of the staff of the university.
He said that political activities in universities premises should not be allowed and asked the vice chancellors to promote the co-curricular activities. He also directed VCs to take further measures to ensure the foolproof security of the universities. The Governor was also briefed about the overall security situation of the public sector universities.
While addressing the meeting, the Governor who is also the chancellor of the universities said that we will not allow the terrorists to continue their cowardly acts adding that whole the nation was committed to uproot the wave of militancy and intolerance from the country. He said that terrorists and their facilitators will be rooted out from the country.
The meeting started with prayers for those who lost their lives in the Bacha Khan University attack. Governor paid tributes to brave security guards and other staff, students of the university and the local police for their effective and quick response to the terrorists attack.
