The opening day of 13th ITIF Asia-2016 witnessed an overwhelming participation of both local and foreign visitors, here at Karachi Expo Centre. The 3-day mega trade and industry fair is being organised jointly by Commerce Gateway Pakistan, World Chamber Federation, and Karachi Industrial Forum.
President SITE Association of Industry, Junaid Esmail Makda while addressing the inaugural ceremony as chief guest said: "As many as 100 national and international companies have showcased latest technologies in the fields of Renewable Energy, Engineering, Automobiles and Oil & Gas etc in this show." "Over 65 foreign delegates mainly from China, Korea, Iran and Taiwan gathered at the platform of 13th ITIF Asia 2016," he added.
He said that the purpose of organising the mega fair is to promote positive image of Pakistan in the international community, besides attracting foreign direct investment here. Suggesting the local traders to adopt value-added machinery he said: "It's high time for us to take benefits from the advanced technologies being displayed in this show. 15 to 20 year-old machinery has become obsolete in this high-tech era."
Introducing ITIF he said it's a business to business (B2B) trade fair which aims to be a one-stop shop for all the trade industry, bringing all stakeholders under one roof and providing a platform to its international participants to meet respective Pakistani business personals and to make future business deals in Pakistan.
The ceremony was also attended by Zahid Saeed, President Korangi Association of Trade & Industry, Malik Khuda Bakhsh, CEO Malik Group of Companies, Javed Bilwani of PHMA and others. The event will continue till 28 January, 2016 with an expected visitor turnout of over 40,000. He also briefed the foreign visitors about the commercial significance of Karachi and its seven trade zones. These industrial zones, he said, contribute some 50 percent of total country's export. Nearly five million population of the city is directly or indirectly associated with these zones, he added.
Large number of people visited various stalls throughout the day. An electric auto rickshaw displayed by a Chinese company-(Chenghang New Energy Vehicles Co Ltd) was the centre of attention for them. "You just need to get its battery charged and bring it on the road. It is environment-friendly and comparatively cheaper mood of transportation," said Suo Naiguang, the company's sales manager while talking to Business Recorder.
When asked about the price she said: "It will cost around Rs 150,000 to 200000. Its loading capacity is around 180 Kg and charging timing is 6 to 8 hours." "We are looking for importer/agency dealers here, several people have visited us and showed keen interest. Hopefully we will make some deals with them before the end of this fair," she concluded.
