The Supreme Court on Wednesday sought a comprehensive report from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) pertaining to the current status of adjudication regarding the International Security Assistance Force's (ISAF) containers scam in accountability courts of the country.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, comprising Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain resumed the hearing of a case relating to the progress report on the ISAF containers scam in pursuance of apex court's directives.
Muhammad Akbar Tarar, Additional Prosecutor General of the NAB, apprised the bench that the Bureau had filed a total of 97 references about missing containers in accountability courts. Expressing his astonishment during the course of proceedings, a member of the bench Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh observed: "Everybody saw the ISAF' stolen containers in Karachi but the NAB was unable to see even a single ISAF container in the metropolitan."
Tarar requested the bench to issue directives to seek report on current status of the litigation in the matter saying the Bureau will observe the apex court directives in letter and spirit. Seeking a comprehensive report from the top anti-graft watchdog, the court adjourned the hearing of the case for two months.
