The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked Islamabad High Court (IHC) to decide a pending matter relating to provision of a bullet-proof vehicle to former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in the first week of February 2016. A three-member bench led by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar resumed the hearing of a petition filed by advocate Hanif Rahi who has challenged the provision of a bullet-proof car to Chaudhry.
During the course of proceedings, Additional Attorney General Rana Waqar apprised the bench that government has filed an intra-court appeal in the IHC against its verdict of 2014 for provision of an official bullet-proof car. He further said that the matter is under adjudication in the High Court and fixed for hearing on February 4. To which, the apex court issued directives to the IHC to dispose of the matter during the first week of February 2016 and adjourned the hearing for a date in office.
