A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official on Thursday said to retire from international cricket at an age when you can get a chance to represent your nation once again is totally an unwise decision on part of the players. Talking to APP, a PCB official while referring to Imran Farhat's decision to retire from international cricket just to play in the Masters Champions League (MCL) an unwise decision said Imran still had the age and would have made a comeback again to the national team with his performance.
Imran took retirement from international cricket in a bid to appear in the MCL scheduled to be held in Dubai from Friday. The official said Imran has obtained the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the board to participate in the MCL. He said the PCB had made it clear that the players, who have signed contracts for the MCL, were told to retire from international cricket first and then go to play in the league. "However, the players playing in the MCL can continue to play in domestic cricket," he said.
Imran had played 40 Tests, 58 ODIs and seven T20Is for Pakistan. However despite having so much experience, Imran was left out in the drafts for the inaugural Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is set to be held in February. Imran will represent Sagittarius Strikers in the MCL. Imran will join former team-mates Abdul Razzaq, Saleem Elahi, Mohammad Yousuf, Saqlain Mushtaq, Rana Naved, Taufiq Umar, Yasir Hameed, Mushtaq Ahmed, Azhar Mehmood, Hasan Raza, Humayun Farhat and Mohammad Khalil in the league.
