Activists of Pasban-Pakistan, on Sunday staged a protest demonstration in front of Karachi Press Club to press the authorities for the reduction of petroleum products' prices keeping in view the prevailing lowest prices of the commodity in the international market.
Protesters, including women and children, were carrying banners and placards, inscribed with anti-government slogans.
Speaking on the occasion, Pasban's senior vice president Tariq Jamil rejected the government's plan of reducing prices of petroleum products by only Rs5 per litre, saying such a move on the part of the government was not justified.
He deplored that although Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has proposed reduction in petroleum products by Rs11 per litre, prime minister reduced the prices of the petroleum products by only Rs5 per litre.
He said that it was ironic that the government was not making justified reduction in the prices of petroleum products although oil price in the international market had been decreased considerably.
He also criticised the government for not resolving the issues being confronted by common man.
Pasban's vice president Abdul Hakim Quaid and other office-bearers were also present on the occasion.
