Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Punjab's former organiser Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said "dacoits and murderers" are more powerful than the Punjab government and nobody even lives and properties of Police Officers are not safe. In these circumstances, the masses are living only under blessings of Allah Almighty as the State seems unable to protect the masses.
Sarwar was speaking to party's women members and media persons in Lahore. Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, PTI Punjab women wing president Saloni Bukhari, and MPA Saadia Suhail Rana and others were present on the occasion.
Sarwar called the PML-N government as killer of poor masses in economic terms. The rulers were launching projects to loot the national wealth instead of pursuing public welfare projects. He said some 40 per cent Pakistanis were even deprived of two simple meals, while the ailing men, women and children were dyeing in hospitals for want of proper treatment and medicines.
He said PML-N's stubbornness towards mega projects like metro train was not serving the masses well like Yellow Taxi and Rooti schemes. The prices of daily use items had gone out of reach of the majority of masses in the country but the State Bank of Pakistan was issuing fake reports to appease the rulers.
He said peace and prosperity could never be revived in the country without holding corrupt and terrorists accountable. PTI under the leadership of Imran Khan was the real opposition in the country.
Sarwar said the historical and cultural heritage of the country was in danger due to rulers' Orange Train project besides the "mass murder" of trees. PTI was standing with the affectees of the Orange Train project and would support them in their protests. He said the Orange Train project was not people-friendly and roads were being cut like a cake and people's residences and businesses were being demolished. Thousands of families had been rendered homeless and almost all segments of the society had strong reservations against the project. Sarwar said the PML-N was economically killing masses through price-hike and joblessness, which was unprecedented in country's history.
Addressing the meeting, Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed said all opposition parties had united against the Punjab government for its anti-people policies. The joint opposition would not allow the government to commit excesses against the masses. PTI was fighting for the rights of masses and would be ready for all kinds of sacrifices.
Saloni Bukhari said the PML-N had become a Failed-League as the number of those committing suicides due to price-hike and joblessness had surpassed all precedents in the history of Pakistan. She said the rulers were responsible for the suicides being committed by poor masses.
