The imposition of the 1952 Essential Services Maintenance Act on the Pakistan International Airline has been challenged before the Lahore High Court. Ishtiaq Chaudhry, a bar member, has said the Act for airliner staff militates the constitution and no law permits to stop anyone from protesting for his rights. He urged the court to scrap it. On January 31, the prime minister had approved the imposition of the said Act for six months after airliner staff prepared to halt flights.
