The government on Thursday notified four persons for lodging complaint against the employees of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation, accused of committing offences, under the Pakistan Essential Services Act. Those authorised to lodge complaints are: Captain (Retd) Ahmad Latif PSP, Senior Joint Secretary, Aviation Division; Rashid Ahmad, Director (HR&A&Coord) PIAC, Karachi; Musa Khan Deputy General (HR), PIAC Lahore and Mubarak Hayat, Deputy General Manager (HR) Peshawar.
The notification dated February 3 has been issued by the Ministry of Interior follows the extension of the Essential Services Act to the PIAC for a period of six months. The SRO (1)/2016 states: "In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 7(3) of Pakistan Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1952, the Federal Government is pleased to authorise following persons for lodging complaint(s) against the employees of Pakistan International Airline Corporation (PIAC) accused of offence(s) under the Act." The PIAC employees are on a strike against the proposed privatisation of the national flag carrier that has disrupted all scheduled domestic and international flights, for the past two days.
