.In Punjab Assembly's 19th session here on Wednesday, opposition while agitating against route of Lahore Orange Line Metro Train staged a walkout and protested on Mall Road. They also held a "dharna" at Chief Minister House and urged the government to make changes in the present route of the project. Opposition legislators said that the government must assure that historical buildings and monuments were not affected by the project.
They also asked the government to adequately compensate those hit by the project. Opposition legislators stressed upon the government to put more financial resources in the Lahore Orange Line Train project and for this if it was necessary funding could be made from development funds of other projects.
In the session legislators called for timely payment of sugarcane to the growers. They urged the government to pay proper attention to the sector. In the agenda of the day two bills that were on the agenda could not be tabled because of non availability of provincial law minister. Parliamentary Secretary Health while speaking in the query period told that OPD of the Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology was inaugurated on November 13, 2007. He stated that on 202 beds OPD, Rs 776.247 million had been incurred. Parliamentary Secretary told that to increase beds in emergency to 66 an allocation has been made in ADP for the purpose.
Parliamentary Secretary to a question said that there were 47 wards and four blocks in Service Hospital. He disclosed that a total number of 39 professors were working in the hospital, out of which 27 were regular, he pointed. He told that there were 23 ultrasound and nine dialysis machines in the hospital. To another query about diabetic treatment, Parliamentary Secretary Health Imran Nazir told that free medicines are available for diabetic patients in Jinnah Hospital Lahore. He stated that like Services and Jinnah Hospital, few big hospitals have Diabetic Clinics within their establishment.
