The Inter-Provincial Education Ministers' Conference (IPEMC) on Thursday approved the minimum national education standards to be applied across the country aimed at setting uniform standards. The national education standard has been adopted and approved while mechanism would be notified in each province to measure the implementation, said Minister of Federal Education and Professional Training Engineer Muhammad Baligh-Ur-Rehman, flanked by provincial education ministers at the conclusion of 7th Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference.
Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan (Minister For Education, Punjab), Muhammad Atif Khan (Education Minister, KPK), Muhammad Ibrahim Sanai (Education Minister, Gilgit Baltistan), Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal (Education Minister, Balochistan), Muhammad Matloobi Inqilabi (Ecucation Minister, AJK), Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry (State Minister for CADD) also participated in the conference.
Baligh-Ur-Rehman said that IPEMC would be held after every four months. Sustainable Development Goals, Minimum National Curriculum, Minimum Standards of Education, Revised National Education Policy 2016, Waseela-e-Taleem by BISP, use of ICT, and Advanced Quality Learning Programme etc were discussed in the meeting and significant progress was made in this regard.
In the conference it was decided to increase number of scholarships under the Waseela-e-Taleem of BISP from one million to two million to enhance the literacy rate, besides providing quality education, the minister added. The minister said that the body discussed and showed commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, where education stands at Goal no-4.
