Dr Mohammad Aslam Chaudhry, Chief of Party US-Pakistan Centers for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W), University of Utah (UU)USA conducted session on the criteria of student's exchange scholarship program with MS/PhD students of USPCAS-W, at ORIC Library Seminar Hall, Mehran University Jamshoro.
Dr Chaudhry said that all of the MS/PhD students of this centre who meet the criteria will go for the exchange program and will stay at UU, USA for their research purpose. He said that the research is one of the prime purposes behind the establishment of USPCAS-W, a state-of-the-art water research centre at MUET Jamshoro by the support of American people through the Unites States Agency for International Development (USAID), which is technically assisted by University of Utah as a partnering university.He said that to build the capacity of the faculty and students of the centre through the exchange program is one of the key objectives of this USAID funded project and there were six including three female faculty members went to the States recently for four to six month research purpose.
He while taking the session of the students told them that the selection criteria for the exchange program specifically in percentage like 40% for course, 30% for thesis research proposal, 10% for class attendance and seminar participation, 10% for recommendation of academic supervisor and finally 10 % for statement of purpose which will be written in the class. He further elaborated that the assessment of the student's for the exchange scholarship in terms of intellectual independence, analytical ability, spoken English, interpersonal skills and finally overall evaluation. On this occasion USPCAS-W Project Director, Dr Bakhshal Khan Lashari said that University of Utah is committed to provide technical assistance and also facilitated for the faculty and students exchange program.
