Federal Ombudsman Secretariat for 'Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace' Islamabad has summoned a complainant in a matter on a national holiday (February 05, 2016).Farhat Qudsee, Head of Department, Pak Korean Garments Technology Institute (PKGTI), Karachi had filed a complaint No 1(240)/2016, FOS (Reg) against Federal Minister Textile Industry and others under the "Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2010".
Lieutenant Colonel Khamis Khan Panni (Retd), the Consultant/Registrar of the Ombudsperson Secretariat, had issued a letter to the complainant on February 01, 2016 saying, "You are directed to appear in person for hearing before the Federal Ombudsman on February 05, 2016 at 10:00 AM."
The complainant was not able to appear before the office on February 05 which is a public holiday - the Kashmir Solidarity Day. She said that she was also unable to reach Islamabad from Karachi due to strike of PIA employees. Later on February 09, 2016, the Ombudsman's office dismissed her complaint on grounds of non-prosecution.
According to order sheet of the case, "complainant called absent. Now its 12:15 Pm. Complaint is hereby dismissed for non-prosecution". The complainant alleged that Panni had shared her complaint's contents illegally with defending parties and also attempted to persuade her to withdraw complaint and file it in Karachi.
