Women Chambers of Commerce and Industries (WCCI), Karachi-South has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Malaysia (NAWEM) during Pakistan Expo 'Pexpo' held in Kuala Lumpur.
Director of International Marketing EVECON, an event management company, Shahida Qaiser, told Business Recorder the MoU was signed between the two organisations at a ceremony on February 14 at Pakistan exhibition "Pexpo-KL" held at Mid Wally Exhibition Centre. The NAWEM's deputy president Dr Susan Cheah and WCCI Karachi-South's president Farida Qureshi, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations in the presence of some 15 Pakistani women exhibitors and NAWEM's Board Members.
Later, both the women business leaders presented souvenirs and exchanged gifts. "The purpose of MoU is to understand challenges and barriers being faced by Pakistani women and take joint initiatives with WCCI to harness and develop strength to face challenges to market resilience, capitalise on human resources and excel in business growth and to successfully collaborate towards increase in Pakistani export to Malaysia for mutual win-win situation.," Ms Qaiser quoted the NAWEM's deputy president as saying at the MoU signing ceremony.
"Around 500 women entrepreneurs, representing SMEs, IT services, aerospace, beverages, engineering, are members of the association," she added. About the 'Pexpo KL', she said it was a four-day mega event where 63 Pakistani exhibitors showcased their products and it was inaugurated by MATRADE's CEO Dato' Dzulkifli Mahmud. The exhibition's inaugural ceremony was addressed, among others, by Kuala Lumpur Malay Chamber of Commerce (KLMCC) president Dato' Dr Sharif-ud-din Musa, Pakistan High Commissioner to Malaysia Syed Hassan Raza, Surgical Association's chairman Jehangir Bajwa, EVECON/SARG chairman Mir Nasir Abbas and Farida Qureshi.
