Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Marvi Memon has said that the project has been launched to promote handicrafts made by BISP beneficiaries through website across the world. She said this while addressing BISP beneficiaries on the occasion of her visit to BISP office Hyderabad the other day.
"BISP beneficiaries are experts in making handicraft work and they can make Rilly, Shawl, Topi and others and such things would be sold through internet across the world and it would enable them to earn their livelihood effectively and come out of poverty cycle," she said. She also suggested the BISP beneficiaries to keep prices of handicraft work appropriate.
Interest free small loans would be provided to BISP beneficiaries for financing their handiwork, she said, adding that such scheme of loan would help them more. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar are working for providing maximum relief to BISP beneficiaries, she said.
"Now TCS and other couriers companies would collect handicrafts from your home and deliver to a buyer when order is placed through web and you do not bother to go anywhere to sell them," she said. "Besides, we have increased the grant amount from Rs 4500 to Rs 4700," she said, adding that so far actions have been taken against 75 persons involved in cheating BISP beneficiaries.
