The Supreme Court on Tuesday accepted Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) report in disqualified Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz' (PML-N) Member National Assembly Sumaira Malik review petition and asked the office concerned to provide the report copy to parties of the case for objection purpose. In 2013, the top court had disqualified Sumaira Malik from NA constituency 69 in Khushab over the possession of a fake degree and issued orders to Election Commission of Pakistan to take necessary action in this regard.
She had filed the review petition in the matter to which a larger bench of the Supreme Court issued directives for forensic report from the PFSA. Appearing before the 5-member larger bench of the Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, the PFSA official submitted the report pertaining to fresh photograph of Sumaira Malik verification in the matter after seeking her data from the National Database Registration Authority.
Accepting the report, the bench directed its office to provide copies of the report to the parties of the case by giving an opportunity to submit objections if any. Sumaira Malik contended before the bench that she, being a woman, was facing the problem for the last two years, three months and 21 days she is struggling for remedy in the case saying university has verified her educational degree even than proofs are being sought. However, the Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali asked her not to interrupt the court proceedings and adjourned the case till second week of March.
