A meeting of the Executive Committee of National Economic Council would meet today (Wednesday) to take up five projects including three 3800 MW energy sector projects and two transport and communication sector projects. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar would chair ECNEC meeting in the afternoon to consider the five projects.
The energy sectors project on the agenda are 1223 MW (Gross) Combined Cycle Power Plant at Balloki, District Kasur PC-I as well as 1230 MW (Gross) Combined Cycle Power Plant at Haveli Bahadur Shah, District Jhang PC-I and 1410 MW Tarbela five extension Hydropower project (PC-I). The meeting would also take up two projects related to transport and communication sector. These projects include coal transportation by Rail to Jamshoro Power Plant and construction of Lyari Expressway project (Revised).
