Collector Customs, Peshawar, Qurban Ali Khan has assured clear agents of Torkham border for the resolution of problems relating to the clearance of goods through WeBOC system as soon as possible. Addressing a certificate distribution for the clearing agents for completion of WeBOC training, he said a meeting between Assistant Commissioner (AC), Customs Station, Torkham and clearing agents will be convened in Customs House soon where steps will be taken for the resolution of problems relating to WeBOC system. Additional Collectors, Aftab Haider and Syed Fazal Samad were also present on the occasion.
The Collector Customs said that the electronic clearance of the goods will promote business activities and now after successful operation at Torkham it has also made operational at Kharlachi Customs Station at Pak-Afghan border in Kurram Agency.
He was hopeful that with the imparting of training regarding WeBOC will increase the experience of clearing agents while training sessions will also be arranged for them.
Later, clearing agents highlighted problems relating to customs staff, computers, trainers and internet connections to which the collector customs also agreed and termed them genuine and assured their early resolution. Meanwhile, the Anti-Smuggling Unit of Pakistan Customs also foiled a bid of the smuggling of goods worth millions of rupees to Punjab and recovered 40,500 yards cloth, 120 LEDs and other goods from truck at Akbarpura. Similarly, 110 bags of tea leaf were recovered from a truck in Peshawar and in another action 4,752 packets of foreign soft drinks, compressors and other goods were also recovered from a bus while 54 tons of smuggled soap, cigarette, toothpaste and other goods were also recovered.
